This is my best Jupiter image until now I think. Yesterday I caught about 8 RGB series with my C11 and a 2.5x powermate of Jupiter consisting of 3 movies of 20s @ 60 fps. Using Winjupos I derotated them and combined all of them which gave this result. I’m astonished how good the seeing …
Here is an image taken during the opposition 2012 of Jupiter with its moon Io. A nice transit was predicted, but unfortunately about 2 minutes before the transit clouds came in. C11 @ f25 / DMK21-618 / Red-filter
Jupiter is the fifth planet from the Sun and the largest planet within the Solar System. It is a gas giant with a mass slightly less than one-thousandth of the Sun but is two and a half times the mass of all the other planets in our Solar System combined. Jupiter is classified as a …

This is a comparison of an image made by the 1,0m telescope on the Pic-du-Midi in the Pyrenees and my C11 image made from HI-Ambacht, in my backyard. Between the two images there is a 10-day gap, but the view is almost exactly the same because of the rotational period of Jupiter.
The Galilean moons are the four moons of Jupiter discovered by Galileo Galilei in January 1610. They are the largest of the many moons of Jupiter and derive their names from the lovers of Zeus: Io, Europa, Ganymede and Callisto. Ganymede, Europa and Io participate in a 1:2:4 orbital resonance. They are among the most …
